Don't Forget the Little Things on Your Wedding Day!
We are not writing this to talk about the big things, like vows or wedding rings. You can read the thousands of other articles that will give you that list. The list below is for the overachievers in the crowd who want to be prepared for everything on their big day.
We typically carry these things with us on weddings, incase our couple forgot. We do not want to see a couple stressed-out over something that can easily be fixed. We created this list because of things we have seen in the past and want to share it with all of the bride and grooms to be.
Sewing Kit
Accidents happen. Maybe the groom and groomsman got too carried away during pictures or there's a button that is hanging on by a thread. A sewing kit is something that you hope you won't have to use, but you will be glad to have if you need it.
We have personally seen things happen where pant seams have torn, or buttons have popped off. As much as you want everything to go right, it is better to be ready for any scenario than walking down the aisle with a tear in the groom's pants.
First Aid Kit
Let's say it's a slight headache or a blister from your heels. Instead of being miserable all day, you have a solution. This doesn't have to be a full medical bag, just something simple. Some Band-Aids, headache medicine, alcohol wipes, or cold packs. They aren't very expensive, but they can save the day.
It is similar to the sewing kit. You hope you don't need to use it, but you'll have it if something happens. There are so many moving parts on wedding days so having a first aid kit on standby may not be the worst idea.
Lint Roller
The venues we see commonly are barns, which are very picturesque, but let's talk before the ceremony and reception. The bridal suite is typically very clean and tidy while the groom's is quite the contrary. Something more comparable to a dusty closet, comical at times. Suit jackets are great at collecting this dust and show it very well.
Lint rollers generally come in packs of two, which is great. One for the bridal suite and one for the groom's. It is not the end of the world if the bridal party has some lint on them during the wedding but if that problem can be solved easily, why not solve it?
Cotton Swabs
Weddings are emotional days, not just the ceremonies. Let's just say...there's a lot of crying. I am not saying that it's not okay to cry, because it 100% is okay. We just don't want you to ruin the makeup that you spent so much time on. Tissues also work great but have the chance of smearing your makeup. Just carry around a few cotton swabs. They do a great job of soaking up tears and not ruining your beautiful makeup...this goes for the groom as well.
Snacks
Who gets hangry (angry when they are hungry)? I can make an accurate assumption in saying that most people get hangry. Wedding days move unfortunately fast and sometimes eating gets pushed to the side when you are caught up in getting ready and pictures. Whether it is a banana, an apple, fruit snacks, etc., you need to get something on your stomach. It is easy to get annoyed and upset when you are hungry, so take a minute and have a snack, everyone will thank you.
Phone Charger
Some couples hardly use their phones on their wedding day, where some are their own wedding planners. Your phone battery dies faster than you think, so throw a charger in your bag. This is especially important if you are going straight to your honeymoon. It's something simple, but you won't regret having it.
Personal Hygiene Products
You don't want to look your best but then smell your worst. If you are doing your wedding in the summer, especially outside in the heat, you are going to burn through that deodorant. There will be time to freshen up, so just re-apply. This goes toward both sides of the couple. For those who are self-conscious about how they smell, this is important. And for those who are not self-conscious...it's probably more important.
Steamer
Wrinkles are not the end of the world, but as much money as you spend on your wedding attire, you want it perfect. Everyone has their own way to get wrinkles out, but we have seen steamers work the best for wedding attire. Most of you already have this on your list of items to bring, but in case you didn't, add it.
Stain Remover
Throw a stain remover pen in your bag. It may not make massive difference, but it will help out. We highly recommend adding it to your day of supplies... just in case.
Again, we didn't want to give you a list of things that were on the forefront of your mind, but things that would easily be forgotten. We had some honorable mentions as well that didn't quite make the main list, but would like to give to you. Things like extra pins for flowers, safety pins, comfy shoes for dancing, cash, and printed day schedules may be life savers. We want the best for your wedding day, so the key to having a great day is to be as prepared as possible!
